Mayespark Primary School is a multi-cultural school and we are very proud of the cultural harmony that exists. There is an assembly each day, which is non-denominational, and is a very important part in the life of the school.
Assemblies contribute to the individual’s personal development in religious worship as well as the social and moral values, which we consider to be part of the ethos of the school. The Head Teacher and various staff members, as well as guest speakers and visitors from the local community lead the assemblies. We have a weekly Achievement Assembly which celebrates children’s efforts, attendance, team points and excellent behaviour.
We follow the ‘London Borough of Redbridge Religious Education Syllabus’, which encourages the use of materials and information from different religions and cultures.
We encourage positive attitudes toward diversity.
Parents may withdraw their children from the daily worship element of school assembly by writing a letter to that effect to the Head Teacher. It is hoped that careful consideration will be given before doing this, as assemblies are an important part of a child’s life in the school community.
