Mayespark awarded the ICT Mark
The school recently had a visit from an assessor from NAACE (National Association of Advisors for Computers in Education) who talked to children, governors, teachers, teaching assistants, senior managers and parents about computing in the school. Anthony Hunt visited several classes during his visit and awarded the school the ICT Mark for the standard of computing the school has achieved.
“All at Mayespark are to be congratulated on achieving the ICT Mark award for the first time with such a high level of evidence, both practical and professional: the next three years promise to be very exciting indeed.” Anthony Hunt, assessor, 25 January 2017.
Mayespark has also received an award presented by Sir Jim Knight for excellence by enhancing teaching and learning using videoconferencing. The award was presented to Mrs. Lamb and Mrs. de Asha at the BETT exhibition at EXCEL earlier this year.
The digital leaders attended the BETT show where they had the opportunity to try our equipment. They will now make reccomendations to Mrs. De Asha
The children worked really hard to do this during their lunchtimes and at home. On the last week of March the products were sold at breaktimes and lunchtimes to other children in the school. The total made from all the groups was £270 and the children decided that the money will be going to Cancer Research.
Here are some comments from the children who took part:
Izaan 4T 'I learnt that working is really fun but hard work as customers came quicker than we expected'.
Camille 4H 'It was a great competition to be involved in. I learnt how hard it is to run a business' .
Laiba 5J ' I loved the Tenner competition. I learnt how to manage a business and make money'.
Talent Show Thank you to all the children who practiced every day and auditioned for the talent show. The quality of acts was superb and our guest judges were very impressed! We had gymnasts, comedians, magicians, drummers, dancers, singers and some acting talent at the semi-final. The judges had some very difficult decisions to make but the finalists have now been chosen and they will be performing on Thursday 29th June. We look forward to sharing some photos with you in the next newsletter, along with the names of the winners.
In June all children took part in our wonderful Mayespark art exhibition. Children worked hard to create stunning art pieces based on various British artists. All children visited the art gallery and enjoyed finding their masterpieces. This was a fantastic opportunity for children’s work to be celebrated. Parents who visited the exhibition were impressed with the standard of art work in our school. This is something everyone should be proud of. The school have purchased a number of children’s work so watch out to see them displayed around the school.
Mayespark Oracy team has done it again, they attended the RNLC Redbridge Network's Public Speaking competition and our two key speakers Ali Ali and Zainub Patel secured 1st and the 2nd positions respectively.
Congratulations to Rishi, Ritesh and Ayush. These children were chosen to dine with Mrs Lamb for bringing in healthy packed lunches to school daily. Well done!
A trainer from Redbridge Cycling Centre provided sessions to our nursery children to encourage them to ride bikes and to develop a love for cycling.
