Please ensure all clothing and footwear is clearly marked with your child’s name!

Children’s Property

The staff at Mayespark endeavour to train the children to respect their own and other people’s property. To help us to do this, please ensure that:

  • All clothing and equipment is clearly marked with your child’s name.
  • All money sent to school for any reason is in an envelope, clearly marked with the child’s name and class.
  • Please encourage your child to look for missing items of clothing, and not simply to accept their loss.  We have a lost property collection point in the medical room in the back playground.
  • Children should not bring sweets, chewing gum or toys to school

Due to lack of space children cannot bring large holdalls into school. PE bags and books bags are permitted.

Jewellery

Jewellery should not be worn for school. If children have pierced ears they should only wear small flush fitting studs. Unsuitable earrings and other jewellery will be removed and locked away for safe keeping for collection at the end of the day. Children may wear watches but must take full personal responsibility for them. During PE lessons any religious jewellery will have to be removed if it is considered a safety hazard.

Mobile phones

Children in Y5 & 6 are allowed to bring mobile phones to school if they have written permission to walk home on their own from their parents or carers. Phones must be handed in to the class teacher on arrival (to be locked away) and they will be given back at the end of the day. The permission letter for walking home alone in Y5 & 6 can be downloaded from the letters section of this website.
