Help us gain up to £1320 extra to
educate your child
What is the Pupil Premium?
The Pupil Premium is extra money paid to schools by the government to help disadvantaged children achieve more in education. It is given to schools according to the number of pupils who have been:
- registered as eligible for free school meals at any point in the last 6 years
- been in care for 6 months or longer
In the academic year 2019-20, the pupil premium is worth £1320 per eligible primary-aged student
As this money enables us to make significant improvements in the education we offer at Mayespark, we strongly encourage all eligible parents to register. Please see below for details.
How can I register?
The only way to register for the Pupil Premium is to register for free school meals on the Redbridge Council website.
Parents and carers of primary-aged students, please click here to apply for free school meals.
You will need to provide an email address in order to register.
Primary school meals are free anyway – do I still need to register?
Yes. The only way the government knows who is eligible for Pupil Premium funding is through the number of students registered for free school meals. By registering your primary-aged child, you are securing an extra £1320 per year for the school to spend on their education.
Does my child have to eat a school meal if I register?
While it is recommended your child eats a school meal, due to the nutritional value it provides, this is optional – we would ask though that you register regardless of whether or not they want a meal so we can receive this funding.
