Lost property
The staff at Mayespark endeavour to train the children to respect their own and other people’s property.
To help us to do this, please ensure that:
- All clothing and bags, including lunch boxes are clearly marked with your child’s name.
- Please encourage your child to look for missing items of clothing
Lost property is stored in the yellow box which is kept just outside the front office.
Jewellery, accessories and hair
- Jewellery should not be worn for school. If children have pierced ears they should only wear small flush fitting studs. Unsuitable earrings and other jewellery will be removed and kept by the teacher for collection at the end of the day, staff cannot be held responsible for the safety and security of non-uniform items which have been removed.
- Children may wear watches but must take full personal responsibility for them.
- During PE lessons any religious jewellery will have to be removed if it is considered a safety hazard.
- Nail varnish and make-up must not be worn to school.
- Longer hair (past shoulder length) should be tied back for safety reasons
Mobile Phones
Children in Y5 & 6 are only allowed to bring mobile phones to school if they have written permission from their parents or carers to walk home alone. Phones must be switched off and put away while on school premises and handed in to the class teacher on arrival. They will be given back at the end of the day. The permission letter for walking home alone in Y5 & 6 can be downloaded from the letters section of this website.
